Wayne Howell is a native of
New Jersey. He grew up in the Monmouth County town of Hazlet,
spending many summer days at the Jersey Shore beach of Sandy
Hook and on the boardwalk at Asbury Park. As an adult, he
resided in the Union County town of Westfield until moving to
Arizona in 2000.
Wayne has had a wide variety
of life experiences and diverse occupations. In high school,
after football and wrestling seasons, he worked on a local farm,
where he cultivated plants in the greenhouse, sold them in the
garden center, and operated the garden center’s power equipment
repair shop.
With an academic scholarship,
Wayne attended Columbia University and lived in New York City
for several years after high school, before the restlessness of
youth called to him.
He worked on a General Motors
assembly line, operated a construction, landscape and snow
removal business, ran a seashore summer hotel and worked with an
engineering firm before adopting two children from Peru.
Another business helping
families adopt in Peru saw Wayne to the finish of his
undergraduate education at Rutgers University, with an
interdisciplinary major in sociology and Spanish. He graduated
With Highest Honors, was given the school’s annual award for
excellence in sociology, and was elected to the Alpha Sigma
Lambda and Phi Beta Kappa honor societies.
Wayne received his Juris Doctor degree from
the Rutgers School of Law in 1995 while running an international
travel agency.
Admitted to
practice law in New York and New Jersey, he managed a legal
service business until 2004, when he was admitted to the Arizona
Bar and began representing accident victims full time.
Wayne's Arizona personal injury practice
began at the South Phoenix office of Hastings & Hastings, where
he soon went from beginner to supervising the six-person office,
serving both English and Spanish-speaking clients. During
Wayne's tenure the office became both productive and profitable.
Always restless, Wayne began repairing the firm's ailing
computers in his free time.
2006 saw Wayne transferred to take the reins
of the firm's largest office, in the Phoenix West Valley.
With three attorneys, the twelve person office served clients as
far away as Tonopah and Wickenburg. The office's proximity
to Luke Air Force base and the Sun Cities requires attorneys to
gain a thorough working knowledge of the intricacies of health
insurance plans, from Tricare and Medicare to AHCCCS and both
private and government employer-sponsored plans.
At the end of 2008, after being a top
producer at the firm for the previous two years, Wayne opened
the firm's newest office in Surprise -- bringing top-flight
personal injury legal services to this corner of the Valley.
Having served clients from Baseline Road to
Black Canyon City and from Tatum Boulevard to Tonopah, the
question of where to open his new firm's first office was a
tough one. The solution? Bring the office to the
client!
Now celebrating eleven years in sole practice,
Wayne now also offers representation for a range of consumer
services -- Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, Wills and Probate Estates and
DUI Defense.
